The night Uganda still talks about. DJ RPM on the main stage before Diplo and Walshy Fire, the RPM logo lit up behind him and a packed crowd in front.
A few nights from the archive. Most weddings and private parties stay off camera.
Business by day, DJ by night. Rahim Mapara has been reading dance floors since 2001.
It started with vinyl, long before every night ended up on social media: private events and the clubs of the day, Club Undecided and Soho's in Westlands, Nairobi, and Enigma in Nakuru. By 2008 he was on the radio as DJ Rahim, co-hosting Co-Drive on Sound Asia FM, where the station called him its number one DJ.
As DJ RPM he opened for Diplo and Major Lazer, played Bell Jamz with Tekno and Mr Eazi, and shared decks with the DJs of Snoop Dogg and Chris Brown. Today weddings, birthdays and private celebrations are at the centre of his bookings, and his sets close on his signature: the best house remixes, back to back.
